I live in Kenya now!

Hey all, So just a little quickie to let you know that after several planes, trains and automobiles I've landed safely in Kenya. I've been here for a few hours now, most of them sleeping a bit.

A few highlights of the trip so far.

Chicago --> London. I sat next to a total hunk from Norway, who had just gotten done backpacking the past 4 months across South America. Sitting in the middle seat next to a man with a surfers tan, great stories, and bright blue eyes for 8-hours? Thank you travel gods.

London--> Nairobi. I somehow got upgraded to the middle seats reserved for mostly business men and me, a yoga teacher. I sat next to the kindest man named Abu, a native Kenyan, and we talked for most of the 8 hours. He totally took me under his wing, and helped me bypass all the lines in customs etc by saying "she's with me." We parted ways right as I met:

Irene!!! Irene is this amazing AYP teacher who she and I have been matched as mentor/mentee into our second year now...much more on her later.

I get to the house to a welcoming committee of Paige, Billy, Irene, Kelly, 4-Massai Warriors (yes really), and feel at home right away. They saved me a piece of cake, showed me what showers to shower, what toilets to flush, and where to drink water...I'm good.

This morning we are headed out to an outreach class (each of the 42-Kenyan teachers teach 5-classes as outreach each week) this morning we are headed to a school called Mathare Special, which is for students who have mental disabilities.

I live in Kenya now.

more later. but I'm safe. I'm here. And I'm smiling.
